A year before its reopening, the silhouette of Notre Dame has a spire once more! The timber frame, topped by a metal cross, has returned to the Parisian skyline at a height of 96m, an exact replica of the one Viollet-le-Duc built for the cathedral in 1859.
It is a magnificent accomplishment for the carpenters who cut and carved it in their workshops before assembling it part by part in the center of the cathedral, but also for all the other people whose work has allowed this milestone to be achieved: project managers, architects, OPC, scaffolders, crane managers, crane operators, ornamental roofers, and gilders.
Once the rooster has been installed at the top of the cross in the coming days, the carpenters will pass the baton to the roofers and ornamental roofers who will clad this masterpiece in lead to ensure its longevity for centuries to come.
