Progress on the timber framework

The installation of the structural timbers is progressing at great speed! Let’s take a closer look at the timber framework of the nave, which has been rebuilt as an exact replica of the original 13th-century “forest”.

 

Meanwhile, at the center of the scaffolding in the crossing, the carpenters have nearly finished lifting the two openwork levels of the spire. Trilobes, quatrefoils, columns: see the ornaments that adorn Viollet-le-Duc’s structure close up. 

 

Congratulations to all the carpenters, scaffold workers and crane operators who have contributed to these emblematic operations, sometimes working at more than 50m off the ground!
