Statement by Philippe Jost, Deputy General Director of the Rebâtir Notre-Dame de Paris public establishment.
“It was with the greatest sadness that we learnt of the sudden death of Army General Jean-Louis Georgelin, Special Representative of the French President and President of the Rebâtir Notre-Dame de Paris public establishment.
All the staff at the establishment are deeply affected by this loss and extend their sincere condolences to his family and friends. In addition to his unconditional love for France, exceptional personal ethics and unrivalled energy, the General’s care and attention to others earned him the love and respect of all those within the establishment.
The resolute continuation of the Cathedral’s restoration to ensure its opening for worship and visits in 2024, a project that was so dear to the General, is the greatest tribute that we, along with all the partners, architects, and craftspersons, can pay to his memory. In our grief, we shall strive to achieve this goal with greater determination than ever.”
