As Parisians have no doubt noticed, the 80-meter-tall tower crane that has been standing over the restoration site since December 2019 has been shortened. Its arm has been reduced to prevent it from colliding with the spire, which is steadily growing.&nbsp;&nbsp;This adjustment is also a sign of how much progress has been made on site for the reopening of the cathedral for worship and visits in December 2024.&nbsp;The occasion is also an opportunity to acknowledge the vital work of the <a href="https://rebatirnotredamedeparis.fr/en/careers/crane-operator-1" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">crane operators</a>, who coordinate all the lifting mechanisms needed to allow the other tradespeople to work in good conditions. It is often they who set the pace of the lifting operations.&nbsp;The different cranes must be coordinated with millimeter precision: they are fitted with a GPS and guided by a computer program.
