The north and south gable ends, which are the triangular sections of wall that extend up to the roof pitches, were damaged by the fire and were fully dismantled. The stonecutters were then tasked with carving new stones to rebuild them.&nbsp;&nbsp;The rose windows in the centre of the gable walls bring light into the large attic. They were decorated with fine floral motifs and their stones were carved by sculptors at the very foot of the cathedral.&nbsp;&nbsp;The stonecutters recently finished installing the carved stones of the rose window in the south gable wall in their final position. They then sealed them with lead to ensure sufficient flexibility around the glass.&nbsp;

Endommagés par l’incendie, les pignons nord et sud, murs triangulaires qui fermaient la charpente, ont été entièrement démontés. Les tailleurs de pierre se sont alors attelés à façonner de nouvelles pierres pour les reconstruire.&nbsp;&nbsp;Au cœur de ces pignons, des rosaces éclairaient le grand comble. Ornées de délicats motifs végétaux, leurs pierres ont été sculptées par les sculpteurs, aux pieds même de la cathédrale.&nbsp;&nbsp;Les maçons viennent d’achever de reposer à leur emplacement définitif les pierres sculptées qui composent la rosace du pignon sud. Ils les ont ensuite scellées avec du plomb pour garantir ensuite aux vitres qu’elles supporteront une souplesse suffisante.&nbsp;
