The first solid-oak trusses of the large attic were delivered via the Seine and raised by crane above the cathedral vaults.&nbsp;&nbsp;The main trusses of the transept crossing were assembled by carpenters from Métiers du Bois in a dedicated area on the edge of the river and transported by barge to the foot of the cathedral. The operation used river transport, which is environmentally friendly and particularly suited to heavy and bulky loads, and was organized by the public establishment (contracting authority) in collaboration with Voies Navigables de France and Haropa Port.&nbsp;The crane operators then took over to lift the individual trusses, which are 14 to 16m wide and 12 to 13m tall and weigh 7 tonnes, to the top of the walls, where the carpenters adjusted their position with precision and connected them to the base of the spire by a ridge.&nbsp;&nbsp;These trusses form the main structure of <a href="https://rebatirnotredamedeparis.fr/en/restoration/reconstruction-of-the-frameworks-and-spire" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">the framework</a> surrounding the spire as well as that of the two arms of the transept, replacing the framework installed by Viollet-le-Duc.&nbsp;&nbsp;This first delivery was carried out in the presence of Transport Minister Clément Beaune, General Georgelin, Mayor of Paris-Centre Ariel Weil, representatives of Haropa Port and VNF, and the group entrusted by the public establishment with the reconstruction of the framework of the spire and transept, based on studies carried out by the head architects for historic monuments (project managers): Le Bras Frères (mandatary), Asselin, Cruard Charpente and MdB Métiers du Bois.&nbsp;

Les premières fermes du grand comble, en chêne massif, ont été livrées par la Seine et levées par la grue au-dessus des voûtes de la cathédrale.&nbsp;&nbsp;Assemblées par les charpentiers sur une aire spécifiquement prévue à cet effet au bord du fleuve, les fermes principales de la zone de la croisée du transept ont été transportées par barges jusqu’au pied de la cathédrale. Préparée par l’établissement public, maitre d’ouvrage, en concertation avec Voies Navigables de France et Haropa Port, cette opération utilise le transport fluvial, respectueux de l’environnement et particulièrement adapté à des charges lourdes ou de dimension importante.&nbsp;Les grutiers ont ensuite pris le relais pour déposer une à une les fermes de 14 à 16 m de largeur pour 12 à 13 m de hauteur et un poids de 7 tonnes au sommet des murs bahuts, où les charpentiers ont fini de les positionner avec précision puis de les relier par un faitage à la souche de la flèche.&nbsp;&nbsp;Ces fermes constituent l’ossature principale des <a href="https://rebatirnotredamedeparis.fr/restauration/la-reconstruction-des-charpentes-et-de-la-fleche" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">charpentes </a>qui entourent la flèche et de celles des deux bras du transept, et qui restituent les charpentes installées à l’époque de Viollet-le-Duc.&nbsp;&nbsp;Ce premier acheminement s’est déroulé en présence de Clément Beaune, ministre des transports, du Général Georgelin, d’Ariel Weil, maire de Paris-Centre, de représentants d’Haropa Port et de VNF, ainsi que du groupement à qui été confiée par l’établissement public, à partir des études menées par les architectes en chef des monuments historiques, maîtres d’œuvre, la reconstruction des charpentes de la flèche et du transept&nbsp;: Le Bras Frères, mandataire, Asselin, Cruard Charpente et MdB Métiers du Bois.&nbsp;
